Blue Victoria recently conducted a capacity-building workshop for Fisheries Officers in Rorya District, held at the Rorya District Offices. The workshop aimed to strengthen officers’ understanding of Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) within the Lake Victoria Basin and their importance in conserving freshwater ecosystems. All fisheries officers in the district actively participated, demonstrating strong commitment to sustainable resource management.

We were honored to host an expert from the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI), Madam Magreth, who delivered an insightful presentation on the current state of Lake Victoria. She highlighted critical challenges including habitat degradation, overfishing, pollution, and climate change impacts affecting the lake’s biodiversity..
