Our KFAs

Key Focus Areas

Fisheries

We promote sustainable fisheries by supporting responsible fishing practices, reducing post-harvest losses, and empowering fishing communities with innovative technologies, training, and livelihood opportunities that protect fish stocks and improve incomes in the Lake Victoria Basin.

Aquaculture

Blue Victoria advances sustainable aquaculture by empowering fish farmers with modern technology and climate-smart practices to increase productivity, improve fish health, and enhance food security. Through training and innovation, we help create jobs for youth and women while reducing pressure on wild fish populations.

Freshwater Biodiversity Conservation

Our conservation work protects freshwater species and habitats through community-led conservation areas, ecological monitoring, pollution prevention, and restoration efforts that safeguard Lake Victoria’s unique biodiversity for future generations.

Freshwater Knowledge Hub

We generate and share freshwater knowledge through research, data collection, digital monitoring tools, and community education, providing reliable information that supports evidence-based decision-making and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.

Climate Change

We help communities adapt to climate change by promoting resilience strategies, clean energy solutions, ecosystem restoration, and awareness programs that reduce environmental risks and strengthen local capacity to respond to changing climate conditions.
